BOB'S HERMIE'S on SYDNEY
The Aquatic Difference........
(Alvie - Rest in Peace)
Aquatic hermit crabs differ to the more common land hermit crabs that you hear about on places like the net. Unlike their terrestial counterparts, aquatic hermits do not possess an effective means of extracting oxygen from the air, and thus must live in water.
The shell hermits use for their home is very special to them, and when it comes time to look for a bigger one they'll put in a huge effort in examining their future home, jostling it about until they have inspected it thoroughly and very often rejecting it.
Food you can feed your crab includes chicken, meat, fish, some say coconut, and some 'bottom feeding' fish or crustacean food from your local pet store. Feeding is only every 2nd day, and apart from keeping the water clean, a good assortment of shells should be available for when it comes time for the crab to shed its skin (molt).
For Sale: My lovely hermie brood need to go
in order to make room. I'm selling mostly the
very little ones, 4 for $20 aud. Email me for details.
N.B These are aquatic hermit crabs and will die
quickly if left out of seawater or similar.
UPDATE:
I'm shutting down this aquatic hermit crab web page for
now, giving the hermies a break for now. Going to start a
new crab web page with my newest acquisition, as soon as
I find out what crab he is.
CIAO!! :-)
